The kitchen

This is a great view of our place just after you have hung up your coat and walked in a few feet. As you can see, there is a closet to the right, and then the kitchen begins.

The kitchen, is one of my favorite things about this apartment. At first, I wasn't crazy about the kitchen's location, and I even considered moving it so it faced the living area. But after living in the apartment, I now love the fact that the kitchen seems separated from the living space, and doesn't interfere, but I can still watch T.V. while I cook.

This is the washer and dryer. I love the fact it has a door so that it isn't exposed. You wouldn't even know it was there unless I was in the middle of doing laundry.

Next, the cooking space. We decided to take advantage of the potential cooking space and do an under the counter fridge, far right. This has been great. It is actually quite deep and holds plenty of groceries for 2 1/2 people. The ice box holds quite a bit too, nothing in bulk though. To create a minimal look and modern look we opted for a custom stainless steel countertop and back splash. This is great because we were able to have a sink in the middle of it and extend it around the wall for a more counter space and a bar. We love the stainless steel, you don't need to put trivets down when you cook.

Under the sink is more storage, and a Fisher Paykel dish drawer. This has been a life saver. It holds more than a days worth of dishes, and I love the fact it is integrated.

To take advantage of even more counter space we also opted for a flat small AEG electric cooktop. The other great thing about this is we don't have to pay for any gas bills.

This is a great picture that allows you to see the built in cabinetry. Because we don't have a pantry, we opted to go all the way up to the ceiling with storage. You need a stool to get up to the top, but it solves the issue of where to put stuff you don't use often. When we rennovated, we also took out the dropped ceiling and put in recessed lighting. The kitchen now feels much bigger and more open.
